Guildford and Waverley Alliance hosts successful annual networking event
Representatives from health, care and the voluntary sector attended Guildford and Waverley Health and Care Alliance’s (GWHCA) annual networking event recently.
The event was an opportunity to pause and reflect on achievements over the past 12 months in improving outcomes for our local communities.
It was also a chance to look collectively at how GWHCA look to progress in the year ahead whilst facing a number of challenges.
Feedback from across the partnership focused on the opportunity to engage, collaborate and create impact locally – making the most of being in one room to connect and share experiences and challenges.
Sara Hurley, Chair of Guildford and Waverley Health and Care Alliance welcomed attendees and Jo Cogswell, Executive Lead for Guildford and Waverley and Executive Director of Strategy and Joint Transformation set the scene for the day.
Insights, reflections and examples of good practice were shared during the first half of the workshop.
In the morning session Dr Helen Barnes spoke about the Integrated Women’s’ Health Hub, a GP-led women’s health service, Georgina Foulds, Associate Director for Primary Care and Community Transformation at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust highlighted the work of Integrated Mental Health Services and Dan Shurlock, Strategic Lead for Thriving Communities, Towns and Villages at Surrey County Council explained the importance of working alongside local communities.

- Capturing culture and trust - Dr Seun’ Akande, GP and Clinical Head of Primary Care for Guildford and Waverley
- Creating positivity - Sarah Church, Chief Executive at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice
The afternoon was dedicated to working in groups to identify and map how and what GWHCA need to do as partners to continue to grow and develop our ambitions as a partnership.
The event provided a great opportunity to come together and learn about local services, communities and how we can stay connected to continue with our local Delivery Plan.
GWHCA have set up a series of informal connections as well as progressing with their large-scale Transformation Plan.
