Asthma can be frightening for children and young people and for their parents and carers too. It is the most common long-term medical condition in children and young people, affecting 1 in 11 in England.

So this September, we’re asking parents and carers of children with asthma to be prepared by:

  1. Getting an asthma action plan in place and share this with your child’s school and activity clubs
  2. Understanding how to use inhalers correctly to get the full benefit of medication
  3. Scheduling an annual asthma review with your GP when you receive a reminder, and after every attack
  4. Considering how air pollution affects your child’s asthma and see if you can make any changes.

Find out more on each of these topics with our Asthma Toolkit for parents and carers on the Healthy Surrey website.

We want every child and young person with asthma in Surrey to live full, active lives.
